[What a crazy fucking adventure this has been. Not only did Archie get fucking shot, but taking his bleeding useless ass back to the hospital had opened up their eyes to the fact that Andy wasn't full of it when she tried to tell them they were for real, real married. It's not till Guzma was given family visitation rights from the staff that it really, truly clicked that their Vegas vacation lead to way more mistakes than getting too drunk to function and streaking through the Belagio fountain.

Either way, Archie's now out of surgery, in his own hospital room, and Guzma's sitting in the arm chair that's in the room. His shirt is stained with blood, and while the nurses and staff likely tried to give him a different shirt to change into, Guzma's ever stubborn. The last thing he cared about was freshening up for when sleeping beauty over there woke up from sedation.

However, when Archie does seem to begin to stir, Guzma sits up a bit more straight from his contemplative forward slouch of a sitting position. His arms having been resting on his knees, while he stared at the spot on the floor between his shoes. He's not sure if what he's feeling is something he'd call worry nor concern, but there was something there. That is, until now, with Archie showing signs of waking up, whatever he was feeling seems to diminish in the face of relief.]

Yo, you finally waking up, ya lazy ass?

[What an appropriate way to address someone who just came out of surgery, you dick. At least he's standing up, and walking over to get a better look at him, likewise making it easier for Archie to do the same.

What a sorry state Archie's in though, damn.]

[a sorry state indeed. a nice cherry on the top of the shit cake of his life, recently, even if he's not quite cognizant to know just how much he brought on himself by doing what he did. he's not thinking of it at all, actually, all he knows is he's fucking sore, archer is a shithead and he wants to go back to sleep for a while.

he glances at his arm when he comes to-- is this that time he almost got it ripped off?? is it a couple of months ago??

archie just gives guzma a flat look:] Y'stink.

[nice. maybe just finish this idiot off with the pillow.]

[It's not that the thought doesn't cross his mind... after all, the pillow is right there...]

[After all, the blood on his shirt certainly isn't his.]

Besides, seems the docs here are only interested in hosing down the critically injured. Wack, huh?

[it seems to be very slowly dawning on archie where he is and why. the blood on guzma... did he get hurt? why isn't he being seen to, then?]

What happened to you? [arceus, that sedative is strong. archie sits up suddenly, or... tries to. it's mostly just a twich accompanied by a pained grunt.] Where's Crobat?!

[He pauses for a moment, getting confused by Archie's confusion. Stupidity is contagious, after all. Guzma looks over himself, and seeing the blood, he realizes what he's asking about.

Guzma doesn't comment on Archie trying to move, since it's more of a twitch and a grunt, than anything else.]

Oh, nothin'. This is your blood. As for Crobat--[He gestures to the small table in the room, where Archie's Poké balls are.]

He's with the rest of your team over there.

What--? No! No, he's hurt! Let him out! [archie had tried to heal crobat and-- honestly, the fact he did so much on his beloved pokémon is largely what made his own situation quite a lot worse. that being said, he's not thinking straight and guzma can probably empathise with his reaction right now, considering what he believes.] I need to-- I need to heal him!!

[he is... definitely properly trying to pull himself out the bed now...]

Whoa-whoa! Hey!

[He does empathize, let that be said, but he also knows Archie's in no place to be healing anyone! His pokémon will survive, but who's to say Archie will if he tries to heal him!

So, with Archie trying to get out of bed, Guzma's taking it upon himself to keep Archie in bed. Putting both his hands on his shoulders to keep him down, which is a pretty easy feat when Archie's as out of it as he is, but what a scene for someone to walk in on...]

[ Poe is not a large man. He never has been. So it's actually kind of amazing just how low and dangerous and edged his voice can sound despite that. How long has he been there in the doorway? Who knows. It really doesn't matter. Because what a scene to walk in on.

He strides right over to them and then moves to shove Guzma off of Archie unless the man moves first. ]

[archie can't really moves his arms, so he just slaps uselessly at guzma's own forearms. then poe's voice cuts through the stupid slap fight and archie looks over, making a noise not unlike you might hear from a dog that's been given a command a little too complicated.

he's a little one track, right now. he perks up, despite still struggling against guzma for a reason he's already half-forgotten.]

Hwhu-- hey! [it's not a protestation.]

[The slaps are largely ignored as he focuses more on Archie staying in bed, than letting the idiot get out and hurt himself further. Something any person with a working brain would do, or so he'd think, anyway. When Poe speaks up, Guzma just stares him down with a glare.]

Oh, fuck off.

[Guzma might have moved had Poe been less of a dick with his entrance. Speaking to him so sharply, like he's doing anything wrong in man handling Archie like this, certainly wasn't the way to get Guzma to do what you wanted him to do. Because of that, he stubbornly doesn't move when Poe approaches, and even stubbornly still attempted to hold his ground despite that shove.

In fact, he does take his hands off of Archie, but not because of that shove. Or, it is, but rather in retaliation to it. Guzma turns to face Poe, giving him a shove right back. Not shying from getting into his face while he's at it.]

What right do you got getting shitty with me, huh? He's fuckin' alive right now because of me, yo!

[ Since the hands being released were what he was trying to accomplish, he decided that he won that little encounter, even as he’s being shoved. But as soon as Guzma speaks, the anger immediately shifts off Poe’s face, replaced by an expression that’s part worry and part surprise. ]

What?

[ It’s a stupid thing to say, but it’s telling. And it’s telling because a few weeks ago, there is no way he would have believed Guzma saying anything like that. But for some reason that he can’t quite identify, he believes him.

His eyes flicker between the two of them. ]

What the hell happened?

[he's already exhausted again. why is being awake so hard? he lifts a hand that feels like lead to his face and rubs it.]

Archie shot me. [a beat. he looks into the middle distance for a moment, frowning.] No... the other guy. That sounds like my name. Rocket. Archer! Archer. But he also shot Crobat so let him out so I can finish healin' him!

[Guzma lets Archie talk, even if he glances at him for a moment when he says his own name, instead of Archer's. He corrects, and that gets Guzma to look at Poe again, with that same irritated stare--until Archie's back on his shit again. He turns to him, scowling.]

Dude, you ain't in no shape to be healing nobody! Y'really think Crobat wants you healing him if it's gonna cost ya so dearly?

I know you're high as fuck right now, but think for a second!

[He hates it, because his mind goes to the one other person he knows who can heal Pokémon, but... god, he'd rather die himself, than ask her for assistance.]

[ Poe’s frown deepens, but his heckles also lower, finally catching up to what he just walked in on.

So that’s why Guzma was holding Archie down.

He lets out a huff of a breath as he steps over, putting a firm hand on Archie’s shoulder. ]

Yeah, no way. You’re in no state to help anyone. Who’s next in the heal squad? [ Finn and Bodhi, probably, but there had to be someone who healed who didn’t get hurt themselves. ]

Ugh... [he seems to acquiesce at that. maybe it's their convincing argument, maybe it's the fact he's starting to blackout again, who knows! he's high as a damn kite!] Finn, but-- wait, don't tell him what happened! We still gotta talk, uh...

[he drops back with a flop and exhales, staring at the ceiling. just need a moment to think about what he's talking about aaaaand...

he's out. bye, archie.]

[Well, that's one way to make sure that Archie doesn't try to get out of bed or heal his Pokémon. He waits a moment to be sure that Archie's down for the count, before he turns his attention to Poe.]

You get whoever that Finn guy is to heal Crobat, and keep an eye on Archie here for me.

[He walks past Poe, heading to the table with Archie's team in their balls on it, picking up Crobat's ball specifically to show it to Poe with a little shake. Emphasizing that this is the one, before putting it back down.]

'Cos it looks like I got a fool to crush.

Finn's not doing it. He takes wounds for himself, so if Crobat's as badly hurt as it sounds like it is, we'd just be taking someone else to hospital. But he might know who else is on heal squad.

[ He turns, watching Guzma go with a squint, and then follows him across the room, putting his hands on his hips. ]

Let me get this straight, some guy shoots Archie so you're gonna go and deal with him? That about right?

[ His voice is weirdly flat, rather than accusatory, despite the words. ]

Well that's about useless, ain't it?

[He levels a flat stare at Poe, raising an eyebrow at the question.]

Yeah, you got a problem with that?

Yeah. That's what I'm saying. So we're not calling Finn. I'll find someone else.

[ Yeah he's already using 'we'. Which... might be explained by his next statement.

He raises a finger and points at Guzma solemnly before shaking it.

It should be a problem, right? This is exactly the kind of shit he was so pissed off with Guzma for before.

But.

It's for Archie, so Guzma's shitty talents are actually of use, here. ]

I'm coming with you.

[His eyebrow lowers when he hears Poe say "we", going more into a furrow than not. His eyes fall to that finger, which gets an even more agitated stare, until Poe finally spits out what he's building up to.

Guzma's expression doesn't change, all he does is tilt his head to the side a little.]

Didn't put out no open invitation, yo.

[Crossing his arms, he faces Poe more fully.]

Besides, you'd probably just slow me down.

And I'm not asking you. I'm telling you.

[ He keeps his finger pointed at Guzma. ]

I'm the fastest thing on this planet in the air. Trust me.

[ He snaps his fingers, and suddenly a spark ignites at the end of it. At the exact same moment, deep in Guzma's chest, he'll suddenly feel a rush of bravery and a massive adrenaline kick to go with it. ]

I'm not letting this guy get away with it.

[ Especially not when the only other thing Poe knows about what's going down with all the Pokemon people is that Archie is afraid someone's going to snag Niko. So someone needs to set an example not to mess with Archie. And like hell if it isn't going to be him.

And Guzma, apparently. ]
