[mightyena huffs, giving a big nod. his head almost touches his chest. archie laughs again, putting his hand on martin's shoulder lightly to nudge him forward.]

More than ready. You should show them off to everyone when you see them.

I should? [he hops into step at the nudge, giving the sidewalk ahead of him the dubious look he'd shoot at Archie if it didn't risk him tripping over himself to do it.]

Some might think it's really weird, though...

[he's about to blow martin's mind:] I mean-- you don't have to, just if you want to.

[he shrugs.]

If they think it's weird, they'll think it's weird. Sometimes people don't see the point in doing things for fun.

R-right... [his mouth twitches, sheepish, and he looks ahead, scratching at his shoulder.] That's what...everyone says I should do anyway. So. I-it's fine.

Just do what you're comfortable with.

[huh. maybe it will be alright. Archie says it enough -- not about this thing alone, but...most everything, really. eventually it's gotta stick, right?

maybe. it's a bit too daunting to agree to, but too enticing to not still hold onto a little hope, quietly inside.]

I...I was told that I'm supposed to visit houses on that day? Is that right? [or were mischievous children just trying to see how gullible he was?]

[sometimes it's easy to feel like you're faking it until you make it, but it's equally easy to disregard the fact you actually are holding onto hope inside, quietly. as much as archie feels like he's given up, he also knows on some level he's incapable of doing so entirely.

and, hey, being able to make someone like martin smile just a little bit just proves that to him.]

Yes, I believe so, [he says, with a nod.] I remember getting kids dressed up where I was staying last year. Trick or treat, they call it. Not sure what the trick is, but you'll definitely end up with a ton of candy.

[he makes a faint, thoughtful sound, bag bouncing off his knee as he walks while his other hand swings a bit more to find mightyena's fur along the way.]

Rex doesn't really like sweet things... Andy does a little. You can have some then, if there's a lot.

[mightyena trots a little closer to martin so the pats are easier. it benefits them both! mightyena is living the dream.]

That's kind of you. They keep for a long time, though, so you could just keep them all to yourself.
